DEADLINE: 5th of month preceding issue month.

COLOR ADS: Add $198 for each additional color required. Full color (four color process) add $595.

SPECIAL POSITION PLACEMENT: All possible considerations will be given to requested position. All position requests must be submitted in writing. Only advertisements that are 1/3 page or larger can qualify for special placement. Special placement can only be assured with written approval of Publisher and at 10% above applicable rate. All cover positions including C2, C3, inside back cover, and back cover are full-page, four-color process only and 15% above applicable space rate.

MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Cover pages printed web offset on 35 lb. white Supercalendar B. Inside pages printed web offset on 30 lb. white newsprint.

ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS: Ad artwork must be submitted electronically in the preferred formats of .PDF or .EPS (all fonts and graphics must be imbedded). For optimal PDF formating, please contact us for a spec sheet. Other acceptable formats include .TIF, .GIF, and .JPG although quality in these formats tend to be less. Pagemaker in the Macintosh format is acceptable (include all fonts and graphics). Target resolution for photos and similar imbedded graphics is 300 d.p.i. Black and white ads must be submitted only with grayscale or bitmap (BMP) graphics (no RGB or CMYK please). Submit color ads properly separated for spot colors or with CYMK graphics and type for 4 color ads (no RGB or spot colors for 4 color ads). Submit art via email (mail@saintbrendan.com) or disc (standard floppy, CD, 100 Zip or 250 Zip). All ads must also be accompanied by either a faxed proof or a mailed print proof. Four color ads submitted electronically require a mailed printed full color proof. Ads submitted "camera ready" will be scanned resulting in an additional charge of $15 per scan.

IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION WORK In-house production work (design, composition) is billed at $60 per hour with $15 minimum. All artwork designed by California Diving News is subject to a $40 release fee before it can be run in other publications. Specialty work is billed at publisher’s cost plus 15%.

WEB SITE ADVERTISING (www.saintbrendan.com): Linked banner ads on the CDN web site are provided to major advertisers at no charge. Full sized banner ad specifications: 480 pixels wide, 75 pixels tall, GIF format, 64K maximum size. 1/4 page advertisers receive a mini-banner ad 220 pixels wide X 75 pixels tall. All web site ads must be preapproved and are subject to refusal and/or editing. Artwork for web ads must be provided by the advertiser or may be assembled in-house for an additional charge. Please submit banner ads via email along with appropriate link.

CALIFORNIA SCUBA CALENDAR: Advertisers with a 1/6 page ad or larger may have their California dive trips listed in this section at no additional charge (linked on web to advertiser's web site). Number of dive trips listed are limited to 24 per 1/6 page per monthly issue.

DIVE STORE DIRECTORY: Provided as a free service to those California dive stores agreeing to make CDN available to their customers. Advertising dive stores are highlighted and a line of text directs readers to their ad. At no added charge, gear manufacturers advertising with a 1/2 page or larger, 3X minimum, may have their authorized dealers indicated in the directory with their logo.

INSERTS: $98 per thousand (weight and size restrictions apply). Inserts must be preapproved.

GENERAL POLICIES ON CDN ADVERTISING

Deadline for display advertising is the 5th of the month preceding the issue month. Changes must be received in writing on or before the deadline date. If no notice is given ad copy will run as in the previous issue. If no ad copy is received, customer is still responsible for all ad space charges.

Payment terms are cash with advertising order for the first ad insertion. Payment for each additional contracted month is due the 5th of the month preceding the contracted issue month. All amounts past due are subject to a monthly late charge of $2.00 or 2%, whichever is greater. Amounts overdue 60 days will be submitted for collection. Customer is responsible for all costs and fees associated with the collection of past due amounts.

All multiple insertion rates apply to advertising that is run consecutively. Advertising that is not contracted to run monthly will be billed at the one-time rate. Contracts are non-cancellable by the advertiser. Publisher reserves the right to cancel contract at any time for any reason deemed necessary.

All rates are based on advertiser submitting electronic pre-press ready art.

Ads should carry no prices or discount (i.e. “20% off, “1/4 off”, “$10.00 discount”, etc.). Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis. Publisher reserves the right to edit, reject or cancel ANY advertisement considered inappropriate. The decision of the publisher is final.

California Diving News reserves the right to refuse any camera-ready ad produced with an inkjet printer or with handwritten or typewritten copy or art.

Statement of Liability: California Diving News shall not be liable for errors or omissions in or failure to insert any ad beyond actual cost of the space to be occupied or to have been occupied by which the error or omission occurred. California Diving News shall not be liable for failure to print, publish or circulate all or any part of any issue in which an advertisement accepted by the publisher is contained if failure is due to acts of God or government, strikes, accident, or other circumstances beyond the control of California Diving News. Advertisers and advertising agencies will indemnify and hold harmless California Diving News, its officers, agents, employees and contractor, for all contents supplied to publisher, including text, presentations and illustrations of advertisements printed, and for any and all claims arising from contents, including but not limited to insufficient postage. All advertisements are accepted and published by the publisher on the representation that the advertisers and or advertising agencies are properly authorized to publish the entire contents and subject matter thereof. California Diving News shall have no liability for errors in any section provided free of charge.
