Grand Opening of New Dive Store

September 1,2,3, and 4 will be the Grand Opening of Southern California's newest dive center. Studio Divers Supply is located at 10211 Rosecrans Blvd., Bellflower, CA , and is just off the 605 freeway. This new store will be carrying all of the latest equipment and toys for wreck, tech, deep, night, hunters, and photo divers, including the newest underwater TV systems.

Jack Ferguson, the owner of this new shop is proud to announce that long time diver and instructor Danny Buchanan will be heading up the instruction department for the new store. Bruce Choate, who is the store manager, is also no stranger to diving here in Southern California and will make sure your visit to the store is a pleasant one.

Studio Divers Supply will be planning a lot of "old fashioned" family outings for divers, as well as lots of boat trips and competitions. They are also planning a Scuba Swap Meet soon.

At the Grand Opening, register for some of the prizes to be given away, including a ReefMaster underwater camera system.

Studio Divers Supply can be reached by calling 877-939-DIVE.

Ron Fuller Dies on Rebreather Dive

Ron Fuller, a long-time San Diego diver and Web page designer and host, died while diving off of La Jolla Shores on August 9. He was making a solo dive, in waters that were familiar to him, using his new rebreather which he had assembled from a kit.

Through the internet, Ron has become known world-wide for his knowledge of San Diego diving. His website, Diving in San Diego, covers everything from information on dive boats to dive shops to what to do during your "surface interval."

Ron had a great love for scuba diving. When he was not in the water he was still involved in the sport through keeping up his internet contacts.

Summer for Monterey Diving and Hunting

It's been a fine halibut season in Monterey, and numerous and large fish were speared. Dave Edlund speared a 47-pound halibut off Del Monte Beach. Dave and his buddy Chris Rehm caught six hallies that totaled 204 pounds on July 8. They suggested that the best halibut hunting is just after the new moon. There were also reports of outstanding visibility in July&emdash;80-100 feet! This makes up for the El Niño Years.
