Loosening Up that Wet Wetsuit
When you put your wetsuit back on for the second or third dive of the day, it often does not slide on quite as easily as it did when it was dry. The bunching up around the arms and shoulders can be particularly uncomfortable. You need to inflate the suit to get it to sit correctly against your skin. Have your buddy make a tight seal around the wrist of your suit. In a small gap, have them blow hard ballooning the material on the arm and shoulders outward. Wiggle your arm to get it into the right place and until it feels comfortable. It may take a couple of tries. Repeat with the other arm.
Fisherman Killed By Whale
A Morro Bay fisherman was killed after a humpback whale unexpectedly breached over his boat, smashing the 22-foot boat and hurling him into the water. Ive had countless calls where boats hit whales, but this is the first time Ive ever had a whale breach and hit a boat, Chief Michael Saindon of the Morro Bay Coast Guard Station said. They were just two big things in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Wreck Will Continue To Leak Oil
For the past three months, divers have overcome harsh marine conditions to pump more than 85,000 gallons of aging fuel from a sunken freighter near the Golden Gate, but officials say they may never recover all the oil trapped in the wreckage of the SS Jacob Luckenbach. The job is now complete, but two large fuel tanks were inaccessible, and that trying to remove an additional 30,000 gallons fuel oil from them would be too dangerous. The cost of the recovery was $19 million.
Abalone Season Ends
Abalone season ends on November 30th. The bag and possession limit this year is 3 per person, with a limit of 24 per year. This is a fine time of year to enjoy both the hunt and the calm fall weather.

More Black Sea Bass in Malibu
There has been another reported sighting of a giant black sea bass right off the beach in the Malibu area, this time at Corral Beach. A few months ago a giant sea bass was reported at Escondido Beach. The fully protected giant fish, once on the brink of extinction, have been making a comeback in the Santa Monica Bay, but is has only been very recently that they have begun to show up close enough to shore for beach divers to observe. Another location the black sea bass have been known to frequent is on the south end of Santa Monica Bay at Malaga Cove.
