U/W Camera Maintenance Workshop - March 3
The Los Angeles Underwater Photographic Society (LAUPS) will host an Underwater Camera Maintenance Workshop on Saturday, March 3 in Torrance. The workshop is being conducted by Dan Blodget of Sub Aquatic Camera Repair. The four hour workshop is for those who want to learn more about the care of their underwater camera, housings and strobes.
The workshop location is Hawthorne Savings at 21370 Hawthorne Blvd. in Torrance. The program will begin at 9 a.m. There is no charge to attend the workshop and membership in the LAUPS is not required, but participation is limited to 30 advanced registered attendees.

Casino Point Underwater Naturalist Trail - April 8
Volunteer research divers from the non-profit Catalina Conservancy Divers will once again set up a temporary underwater naturalist trail every other month within the Casino Point Marine Park (Avalon). This is done to help educate the diving community to the dynamics of the unique kelp forest ecosystem.
The trail is indicated with markers that correlate to a guide to individual animals, mini-habitats, and living situations. The trails mission is to educate the diving public that as to the living things underwater and that all humans that venture in and around the ocean are guests and are obligated to show their marine hosts much respect and care.
The next scuba trail will be staged Sunday, April 8. Additional dates for 2001 include June 10, August 19, October 14, and December 9, weather permitting.

Refugio U/W Cleanup - April 21
The park rangers at Refugio State Beach (north of Santa Barbara) are hosting their 3rd Annual Earth Day Underwater Cleanup on Saturday, April 21. Diving will start at 10 a.m., but all participants should be present between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Lunch and drinks will follow the dive.
