Safe Sea

A revolutionary technology for the prevention of jellyfish and other marine stings is now available for the first time. Safe Sea™ is the only product that prevents jellyfish and coral stings. To date there are products available to ease the pain after the sting, but nothing to prevent them. Based on extensive biotechnology research, Safe Sea™ was scientifically developed to help divers against the stinging threat of most jellyfish, sea nettle, sea lice and coral. Safe Sea™ is combined with a waterproof, sunscreen lotion.

The official launching of Safe Sea™ will be at the DEMA 2000 show. For more information, visit www.nidaria.com on the web.

Scuba Voice

ScubaVoice, L.L.C. of Bossier City, Louisiana introduces a revolutionary new product which mechanically provides scuba divers the ability to talk to each other underwater, diver to diver, with no electronics, no batteries and no special listening devices. ScubaVoice Pro allows hands-free, rapid-reply speech capabilities. It was originally designed for the recreational diver to enhance the diving experience.

ScubaVoice Pro was developed by Neal Pounders, President and CEO of ScubaVoice. Pounders, a physicist and businessman, has been diving for 25 years.

Tank Trap

Tank damage caused by air tanks rolling loose in a car, truck or boat is eliminated with Tank Trap™. Constructed from high friction, no-skid PVC material, the Tank Trap is corrosion and UV-resistant and securely cradles two of any size air tank (except Pony bottles) to prevent rolling, sliding, scratching or damage to the tank.

Safe and economical, the Tank Trap requires no mounting to a vehicle or vessel. The Tank Trap is entirely portable and at 12 inches in length fits inside all gear bags for easy transportation. Weighing just 1.75 pounds the Tank Trap contains no wood, foam, or metal - which means no squeak, rot or rust. The Tank Trap is virtually maintenance free and is patent-pending and made in the U.S.A.

Designed by a diver for divers, the Tank Trap is the invention of Ken Fritz who has dived recreationally for more than 30 years from the Sea of Cortez to the South China Sea and the Persian Gulf.

The Tank Trap is available through professional dive stores. For the pro dive shop nearest you that carries Tank Trap, call (800) 511-4579.

K2 Advantage Rebreather

Tropic Diving Systems has introduced the new K2 Advantage Rebreather. Undersea Breathing Systems, Inc., already known throughout the industry for its DNAx Nitrox Membrane Systems, has exclusive marketing rights for the K2 Advantage.

The K2 design allows for fine buoyancy control with varying breath volumes and no additional weight is required to offset counterlung buoyancy. Eco-Sorb, the environmentally friendly scrubber absorbent, is safe to handle and is conveniently pre-packaged in exactly the right quantity.

There is a single action open circuit bailout at the mouthpiece and with the elimination of the "infinity" curve, the K2 is safer to breathe during extreme exertion at the surface.

Other benefits are: 1) easy upkeep, as all user maintenance can be accomplished with a standard SCUBA tool; 2) use of standard DNAx Nitrox or trimix decompression tables; and, 3) rugged, simple construction. Weighing only 54 pounds, the K2 Advantage is easily transported.

The operating valve, counterlung and scrubber used in the standard twin 30 configuration can be removed and attached to a standard open circuit SCUBA configuration, making the K2 versatile. A full face mask with communications capabilities designed specifically for rebreather use is available as an option. Breathing loop 02 analyzers are also available.

For more information, call 561-588-7698.

VideoRay ROV

VideoRay Inc. has introduced the VideoRay 2000 ROV (remotely operated vehicle) for the recreational market. Weighing just eight pounds and able to explore depths up to 250 feet for hours, VideoRay is the first underwater ROV specifically designed for recreational use.

The VideoRay 2000 ROV costs less than $10,000. Just 14 inches long, 9 inches wide, and 8.5 inches high, VideoRay 2000 is contained in two rugged cases that are easily carried by hand. The controller makes operation as easy as playing a video game. Two halogen lights provide illumination in dark waters.

VideoRay 2000 is connected by a neutrally buoyant tether just 0.4 inches in diameter that extends 250 feet and functions in choppy surface conditions. A connection from VideoRay 2000 to a monitor or TV set provides the operator with the view from the VideoRay 2000's eye. An operating voltage of 48 VDC protects the operator and people in the water from dangerous electrical currents.
