Diving in High-Risk Environments,
3rd Edition

Professional divers who must work in hazardous environments, such as polluted water or under the ice, encounter dangers that most sport divers never face. To properly prepare for this type of work requires not only unique equipment, but also specialized training. Diving in High-Risk Environments is considered the definitive text on the advanced equipment and procedures required to dive in a wide variety of dangerous situations.

Now in its third edition, the book is used by search and rescue divers, commercial, military, and technical divers. The book includes extensive information on full-face masks, wireless communications, diving helmets and surface-supplied diving, dry suits, and other equipment, as well as the techniques for using this gear. There is also extensive data on chemical and biological hazards, decontamination, and gear maintenance. An entirely new chapter on diving in potable water tanks has also been included.

The third edition of Diving in High-Risk Environments has been extensively revised and includes over 175 photographs, high-resolution graphics, charts, and tables. More than 75 percent of the photographs and illustrations are new. The book is printed on a superior coated stock that highlights the photos and other illustrations. Author/publisher Steve Barsky of Hammerhead Press brings over 30 years of professional and commercial diving experience together in this comprehensive book. Barsky, who worked as a commercial diver in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico, presents practical information in easy to understand language.
