Diving Micronesia
If you long to see or photograph brilliant soft corals, clownfishes hiding in anemones, spectacular but deadly lionfishes, or outrageously decorated triggerfishes, all in a region culturally diverse and rich in World War II history, then Micronesia is the place to be. The first comprehensive diver’s guide to all the main islands of Micronesia, Diving Micronesia by Eric Hanauer, has just been released by Aqua Quest Publications.

One of the world’s premier diving regions, Micronesia sprawls across some three million square miles of Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the Philippines. Yet with over 2,000 islands, only about 125 are inhabited. Included in Diving Micronesia are Guam, the Northern Marianas, Yap, Palau, Truk, Pohnpei, Kosrae and the Marshall Islands.

Eric Hanauer, associate professor of Physical Education at California State University, Fullerton, has been a diving instructor since 1961. An accomplished freelance writer and photographer, nearly 200 of his articles have appeared in nearly every major American diving periodical, as well as those in Canada, New Zealand and other foreign countries.
