Why No Classifieds?

I noticed that you advertise for "Dive Buddies" and "Dive Club News & Happenings." Do you ever post listings like Classifieds? I am looking for new to used SCUBA Equipment. Besides looking in the Orange County Register Classifieds or Penny Saver, would you ever think of having the California Diving Classifieds?

Ron:

It is the philosophy of California Diving News that scuba gear is life support equipment and as such should only be sold through professional dive stores that also offer training.

Classified ads are something we have considered in the past and may again in the future. Your comments are valuable input to that regard. Thank you.

As a side note: many dive stores sell reconditioned dive gear at tremendous prices. Typical time frame for these kinds of sales is now. The big plus is that this gear is completely upgraded by trained and certified repair technicians.

Success at Jade Cove

Dear Editor,

I just wanted to thank you for the great article on Jade Cove. After reading it I thought I'd try my luck at finding Jade, and on my first dive I found an incredible piece!!! Not far from shore I saw this green rock sticking out of the ground. After 1000 pounds of air I had it uncovered, and what a beauty it was.

After swimming and carrying it to shore I realized that it was going to be tough getting it up the cliff, but with my adrenaline I knew I would make it. After three hours and sore arms I made it. When I got home I took out the scale and it weighed it 200 pounds!!! I still can't believe I alone carried a two-hundred pound rock up a cliff, but it was worth it. It is a beautiful and sparkling addition (and conversation piece) to my living room.

Sincerely,
Tony

Club Listing Thanks

Hello Dale and Kim,

Just a short note to say continuing thanks for listing our club (Channel Islands Divers - Oxnard) in your paper and in your web site. Thanks, also, for the best diving publication around with the most useful and interesting information (even if it wasn't for being so pertinent to the local area).
