DryEar
Repeatedly dousing your ears in water, then to have that water forced into your ears under pressure, and have that water full of bacteria, is asking for an external ear infection. Personally, second only to urchin spines, this has been my most common diving malady. Most of the time it will not keep you from diving but it can be quite painful. Unchecked, it will proceed deeper in the ear, can cause permanent damage and will stop you from diving.

While there are easy treatments for external ear infections once they have set in, the best treatment is prevention. Key to this is keeping the ear dry as much as possible. This is where the unique invention known as DryEar comes in.

I have found the DryEar very useful in my prevention regimen. This is a simple device that gently blows warm, dry air into the ear canal, drying the ear in just a minute or so. It is so safe it can even be used on children. The DryEar comes with five different colored tips so the whole family can use it. It is rechargeable and about the size of a softball (when closed).
