San Diego Underwater Santa — Dec. 3
The San Diego Dive Club will be holding its annual Underwater Santa Photo Shoot and Toy Drive benefiting the children at St. Vincent de Paul Saturday, December 3, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Point Loma Sport Chalet swimming pool located at 3695 Midway Drive.

There is no charge for this event; however, to participate you must bring an unwrapped toy for donation.

Participation in this event will give you two (2) free digital photos which make great holiday card inserts. For $10 you will receive the pictures on a CD. Participation requires no prior SCUBA experience but bring your C-card if you are certified. You must be 10 years of age or older to scuba with Santa. Santa will snorkel with children under the age of 10.

L.A. Co. U/W Instructor Certification Course — try-outs Dec. 3 & 4, starts Jan. 7
The Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation and the Los Angeles County Underwater Instructors Association invite all experienced and advanced divers to participate in their 53rd Underwater Instructor Certification Course. The course runs from January 7, 2005 to early April 2005. Candidates will have thorough training on how to teach scuba in confined water and in open water with emphasis on beach diving. Upon successful completion of this course, the recipient will be a certified diving instructor in the oldest diving instruction agency in the country.
